Chaque vie est une histoire

M. Robert Farnham

Richmond, December 20, 2025

Bob died peacefully in his sleep on December 20th, 2025. He is predeceased by his parents, Ansell and Grace Farnham (nee Darker) and his wife Hazel Farnham (nee Goodfellow).

Bob lived a full and interesting life. As a teen growing up in Lennoxville QC, he was a champion sprinter, medalling at a national championship. He volunteered with the Lennoxville Fire Department. As a member of the RCMP he provided protection for heads of state from all over the world. A career highlight was a private audience with Queen Elizabeth II when she conferred the Royal Victorian Medal upon him. He is one of 23 Canadians to date who have received this medal. In retirement, Bob volunteered at The Piggery, North Hatley Fire Department and Meals on Wheels. He and Hazel traveled the world, loved their North Hatley home and adored the Bishop’s University Gaiters.

A giving member of his community, a loving husband, a great dad, and a joyful grandfather, he leaves to mourn, his children; Derrick (Leanne Bennett), Cher (Stephen McGurk), Curt (Carol Liao), his grandchildren; Tate, Ella, and Teddy; as well as many friends and relatives.

We will celebrate Bob next summer in North Hatley. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Wales Home who took such great care of Bob these last few months or to Bob’s beloved Bishop’s University Gaiters “Farnham Scholarship”.

Rest in Peace Bump.

Condolences

I am so saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. In 1996-2000 Bob and Hazel were big Gaiter fans while I played women’s basketball at BU. Many years later I returned as a Gaiter parent in 2019 when my son joined BU football. My first reconnection with Bob was at a Mt Allison football game. He recognized me right away. For the years that followed while we attended football games, I would see Bob and always get a big hug. He was a wonderful person and loved being able to connect with him many years later. I am so sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace.

RIP

My sincere sympathies to the Farnham family, I just went to visit Bob
the Monday before he passed. I was privileged to wheel him to the Christmas
music and had a lovely chat, like old times in the Post Office and then back to his room. The love and pride he had for his grandkids and children never went
unmentioned. His stories always got you to laugh. Your support and involvement in NH will not be forgotten. Bob you will be missed. Hazel
will be greating you up in heaven so you had better 'toe the line', as you so often told me. Thanks for all the good memories.

A newcomer to NH since 2020 I met Robert Farnham on my walk. After that we spoke each time we met. Through others I know that he lived a life filled with contributions to this community and everywhere he went.

My deepest sympathy to his family and I do want to participate and contribute to his celebration this coming summer.

My condolences to Bob’s family

You probably know that I first met Bob when I was a nursing student with Hazel at the Sherbrooke Hospital, a teenager. Bob became a friend to all of our class, and still was. I always admired his very interesting career in the RCMP. , and the friends he has made over his lifetime. His personality gathered friends easily.
My sympathy to you, would like to keep in touch. Hope to see you in the summer.

A Tribute to Bob Farnham, Friend and RCMP Colleague

Bob Farnham was a great friend, a former neighbour, and a great RCMP colleague. We have many fond memories of the enjoyable times shared with Bob, Hazel, and their family during the years we lived as neighbours in Aylmer, Quebec.
My strongest and most enduring memory of Bob, however, comes from the years we served together in the RCMP Traffic Section in Ottawa. Bob was a steady presence and a natural leader, an anchor and a trusted colleague providing security for visiting dignitaries and world leaders. His professionalism and dedication were reflected in the many occasions on which he represented Canada at the highest level, achievements that are preserved in photographs with Queen Elizabeth II and Presidents of the United States.
Bob was a loyal colleague and a devoted friend. He will be deeply missed by his family, his many friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him. May he rest in peace.
