Mr Wendell Gordon Cass                 1939 – 2026     

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wendell Gordon Cass, the Wales Home, on Wednesday August 26, 2026, at the age of 87.  Wendell was the son of the late Gordon Cass and the late Muriel Cass (Parkhill).  He was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, brother, friend and horseman.

He was the devoted husband of Elzada Sangster; father to Allen and Kathleen, stepfather to Angela, Jane and Doreen.

He will also be dearly missed by his 4 sisters: Marilyn Cass, Diane (Claude Lachapelle), Louise (the late Wayne Nutbrown) and Phyllis (the late David Sparks).

He was also the grandfather of Erica Wilson, Brittany Wilson, Hillory DeJong (Aaron Jipson), Ben DeJong (Lauren DeJong) and great-grandfather to Mattea, Marisa, Madox, Ashlyn, Eleanor and Jack.

Wendell also left to mourn other relatives and numerous friends.

Family and friends are welcome to meet at the Beulah United Church, 967 rue Main, Ayer’s Cliff, QC, J0B 1C0 on Friday September 11, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. The burial will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery, Sherbrooke, QC, at a later date.

Wendell was born and raised on the family farm on Ways Mills Rd, attended Ayer’s Cliff Elementary School, followed by a two-year diploma course at MacDonald College.

Wendell developed a true interest in Standardbred horses from working with his father on the farm.

In later years he became a breeder and continued this interest and was well known in the industry. He owed many successful trotters including a part-ownership of the famous Emily CAS-EL.
