John David Coulter Vermont, August 16, 2026
It is with great sadness that we share the peaceful passing of John David Coulter on Sunday, August 16th, 2026 at the age of 62.
Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, John was the beloved son of Bruce & Joyce Coulter. He was a loving husband to Natalie Dicaire, Pop to Quincy & Casey, proud father-in-law to Yasmin, wingman to Marc, and finally doting companion to Otis.
He was a loving brother to Susan (Bob Sulla), late Butch (Vessala Vangelova) & Doug (Charlotte Forbes) as well as an uncle to David, Erin, Evan, Gordon, Zoe, Addy, Amber & Nora. He kindly embraced the Dicaire family like it was his own, René and Corinne and his brother-in-laws Marc, Luc, Jean (Jennifer Gibson) and Pierre. Lastly, he was certainly a friend to many.
John proudly graduating from Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Quebec earning a degree in social sciences. He was a talented student athlete playing the role of a captain of the Gaiters Football team.
John spent most of his career in the healthcare industry moving from Canada to the US, France, England and finally Germany where he retired from Abbott Laboratories as a corporate officer in the position of Vice President, Diagnostics, Commercial Operations, Europe, Middle East and Africa. He previously was Vice President, Molecular Diagnostics.
After joining Abbott in 2000, he served in various management positions including Divisional Vice President, U.S. Commercial Operations; Divisional Vice President, U.S. Sales; Divisional Vice President, Latin America and Canada; and General Manager, United Kingdom and Ireland. He also served in marketing roles for Abbott’s global pharmaceutical and nutrition business.
With a strong work ethic and quiet confidence, John believed in teamwork and elevating talent. He was a humble and kind leader. After retiring in 2018, John wanted nothing more than to spend time with his family, preferably in Vermont or on a golf course, with a beer in hand watching the sunset.
A memorial service will be held at St-Mark’s Chapel at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec, on Saturday October 17th at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Coulter Fund at Bishop’s University and/or Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, Massachusetts, would be greatly appreciated.
