Dear family
Joan and I were saddened to learn from Dick of Phil's sudden passing last week.I last spoke with Phil at New Year's and he said his health was quite good. Phil was one of my first playmates when my family would visit North Hatley where our Aunt Doris and Uncle Albert owned the Massawippi Lodge, originally purchased by our grandparents.
We enjoyed keeping in touch by phone and in person during our adult years, mire frequently during our retirement, and we miss him.
Our sincere sympathy and condolences to all of you.
Sincerely
Jim and Joan Fergusson

I and my brother, Jim, are children of Uncle Phil's older brother, the late Jim Fergusson and his late wife, Anne Byers Fergusson. We grew up in the small village of Hemmingford, about 80-85 miles west of North Hatley, west of the Richelieu River, so we didn't see much of Phil's family when we were growing up. We exchanged Christmas gifts every year and wrote thank-you notes, etc. Still, both Phil & his Brother Dick (Rick) meant a lot to me. I saw them from time to time over the years. My husband, Phil, our daughters Hilary & Alison and their families mourn with the rest of you at Phil's passing. He was such a nice man. -- humorous, kind and very personable. My deepest sympathies to all his family & friends. We will never forget him. May it comfort you somewhat to realize that, as long as we remember our loved ones, they are never truly gone. We'll be thinking of you.Marian Kemp

Remembering brother Phillip (Butch) Fergusson
For me, it all started in 1947. We lived on a farm just outside the village of North Hatley. In addition to a mother and a father, I eventually learned that I had a big brother, as well as a lake, and more acres to play in than we could count. Life was a lot of fun in those early years - just the two of us. .....if I fell out of a tree, Butch picked me up and dusted me off. If I got stung by a bee, Butch made it feel better. Over the years, through good times and bad, we've always known we could count on one another and although our relationship was tested at times, the bond between us stayed strong. No more phone chats. No more meetings at Tim Hortin's for coffee and a sticky bun......... I will miss him very much. I've lost not only a brother but a dear friend.Rest peacefully Butch.
