Mr. Ernest Ashford “Ash” Lothrop

Cleveland, June 8, 2026

In Loving Memory

October 21, 1931 – June 8, 2026

Ernest Ashford “Ash” Lothrop passed away on June 8. He was a man of quiet strength, a respected businessman, and a pillar of his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Nelson and May Lothrop, and by his brother, Nelson “Nel” Lothrop.

In the professional world, Ash was a sharp and principled businessman. Known for his integrity and strong work ethic, he earned the respect of colleagues and competitors alike through a career built on honesty and a steady hand.

Ash was at his happiest in nature. An avid outdoorsman, he spent his best days hunting and fishing as a member of numerous hunting and fishing camps in the Eastern Townships and Northern Quebec. He was also a dedicated curler, playing out of the Sherbrooke and North Hatley curling clubs.

Above all, Ash was a beloved husband to Andrea, a loving father to Rick, David (Maureen), and Jim (Cathy), and a proud grandfather to Alex, Kyra, Devin, Liam, and Max. He taught his family the value of hard work, the thrill of a good trip, and the importance of a well-played hand of cards.

The family extends a special thanks to the exceptional staff on the first floor of the Norton Wing of the Wales Home in Cleveland for their compassionate care of Ash.

A private family celebration of Ash’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wales Home, Cancer Society, or simply head outdoors for a walk in the woods or to cast a line.
