Mrs Patricia Anne Rothney Robinson
Sherbrooke, July 24, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Anne “Pat” Robinson (née Rothney), who passed away peacefully at Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke on July 24, 2026, at the age of 81. After a courageous battle with cancer, Pat passed away surrounded by family following a short illness.
Pat was the beloved wife of John Robinson for 60 wonderful years and the loving mother of the late Michael John Robinson (Melanie). She was the cherished grandmother of Nicholas Michael Robinson of Mount Forest, Ontario.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Russell and Arlene Rothney (née Nutbrown). Pat is survived by her siblings: David Rothney (Shirley) of Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec; Susan Rothney Cook (the late Jerry) of Cornwall, Ontario; and Mary Lou Rothney Cusack (Robert) of East York, Ontario. She was predeceased by her sister, Diane Rothney Magon, and Diane’s husband, Robert. Pat will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.
Born in Sherbrooke and raised in Kinnear’s Mills, Pat attended Kinnear’s Mills Consolidated High School from Grades 1 through 9 before completing Grade 10 & 11 at Andrew Stuart Johnson Memorial High School. It was there that her prom date was John Robinson, the young man who would become the love of her life. After graduating, Pat attended Mrs. Stubbs Secretarial School in Sherbrooke. She worked briefly in Montreal but soon realized that city life was not for her and returned home to Sherbrooke. Through those years, she and John continued their courtship, and on June 24, 1966, they were married, beginning a loving partnership that spanned six decades. After two years of marriage, they welcomed their beautiful son Michael. Pat then decided to attend Alexander Galt Regional High School where she obtained her nursing assistant degree.
Pat’s home was truly a “home away from home” for family and friends. Kind, compassionate, and generous, she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome, valued, and cared for. Whether sharing a conversation around the kitchen table or enjoying a spirited game of 31—which she often won—Pat brought warmth and laughter wherever she went.
Her caring nature extended into her professional life. She worked for many years at the Sherbrooke Hospital, where she formed lifelong friendships, and later continued her career with ETFS, now Global Excel, where she was equally respected and admired by colleagues.
An avid baker, Pat never let anyone leave her home without something sweet. She found great joy in bringing people together through food, baking, and hospitality. Her home was the setting for countless family gatherings, celebrations, and spontaneous get-togethers that created treasured memories for all who were fortunate enough to be there.
Pat’s life was defined by love, kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, friendship, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s memory may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation.
A private graveside service will be held at Malvern Cemetery in Lennoxville, Quebec.

My sympathies
Dear John - How sad I was to read about the passing of Patricia. The memories of my teenage summers spent with Pat in Kinnear’s Mills came flooding back - the Saturday night dances down at the “Bluff”, afternoons spent at the local swimming hole and just growing up with all the other teens around “The Mill”. May your memories of Pat help you through this very sad time. Take care of yourself and know that the thoughts of many are with you.Heather (Patton) Turchyn

Dear John:We are saddened to read of Pat's passing. She was an amazing person. During her time spent in Montreal I had the pleasure of working with her at The Montreal Standard Publishing Company (Weekend Magazine, Perspectives and Family Herald). Pat possessed a great sense of humor and managed to keep our office in stitches on many occasions. Pat and her cousin Carol Robichaud commuted with me from Montreal to Lennoxville on most weekends The autoroute wasn't finished in those days and the the laughter and giggles with those two ladies kept me awake. during our almost 3 hour drives. We last saw Pat about 5 - 6 years ago on July 1st at the Canada Day Parade in East Hatley. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Regards, Gary & Helen
