Mrs Françoise Poliquin Elkas 1947 – 2026
It is with much sadness that we share with you the passing of Mrs. Françoise Elkas at the CHUS-Hotel Dieu, after a short illness, on Friday September 25, 2026, in her 80th year. She was the daughter of the late Blanche St-Pierre and the late Louis Poliquin.
She is mourned by her husband Steve, who has shared his life with hers for over 60 years; her son: Stephan Elkas (Kim Bailey); her granddaughters (the loves of her life): Hannah Elkas (Courtland Kidd) and Myriam Elkas (James Murray); She was the sister to the late Louise Poliquin (the late Gaston Cantin) and the late Francois Poliquin (Hélène Lussier). Also left to mourn are her brothers and sisters-in-law: the late Ruth Elkas (the late James Atto), Emsey Elkas (the late Gay Nakash), Gladys Elkas, Sam Elkas (Marlene Hayes), Myrna Elkas (Jeff Courey); her nieces and nephews: Patrick Cantin, Christian Cantin, Lee Elkas, Kim Elkas, Jonathan (Joff) Elkas, Kerri Elkas, Paul Sheib, Peter Elkas, Alex Courey, Leila Courey and their families as well as other family members and many friends.
The family would like to thank all the personnel and volunteers of the CHUS-Hôtel Dieu (6-D – Palliative care) for their kind and professional care which allowed Françoise to live her final days comfortably and with dignity.
As a memorial tribute, donations to the Fondation CHUS (please note ‘Palliative Care’), 530, 10e Avenue Sud, Sherbrooke, QC, J1G 2R9, www.fondationchus.org would be appreciated.
Visitation will be held at the Steve L. Elkas Complex, 4230 rue Bertrand-Fabi, Sherbrooke, on Sunday October 11, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM and on Monday October 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the departure for the church at 12:30 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Notre-Dame-du-Perpétuel Secours Church, 905 Ontario Street, Sherbrooke, QC at 1:00 PM, followed by the burial at the Elmwood Cemetery, Sherbrooke, QC.
Françoise was a caring wife, mother and grandmother (Mamie) whose grace, love and beauty will remain etched in our hearts forever.
