On August 1st, 2025, at the age of 100, William Roy Buttery passed away at Grace Village in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Roy went to sleep peacefully, then departed to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus-Christ.
Roy was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Pearl Evelyn Powell, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, their eldest son Roderick, their daughter-in-law Ellen (Broüwer), and his twin brother Ray. He was the last surviving son of William Buttery and Florence Kate Langman of Regina, Saskatchewan.
Roy leaves behind his children: Joanne, Margot (Michael), Mark, and Lorraine (Brian). His grandchildren: Melani, Madison (Bruce), Philippe (Catherine), Émilie (Maxime), and Michaël (Marie-Jade). His great grandchildren: Reid and Macy; Rosalie, Léona, and Victor; Irène, Henri, and Aurèle; Abby.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 19:00 to 21:00, and on Friday, September 12 from 9:30 to 10:30, at the Complexe funéraire Elkas located at 4230, rue Bertrand-Fabi, Sherbrooke, Quebec. A bilingual memorial service will be held on September 12 at 11:00 in the chapel of the funeral complex, followed by a light lunch. The ashes will be buried by the family in private.
